The standard size for an exterior door is 80 inches by 36, enabling it to be 6 feet 8inches in height and 3 foot wide. More recent homes are now commonly built with the wider option of 96 inch as well or eight-feet tall which give you more space when entering a home from your car or to accommodate a wheelchair or large furniture. Stock doors come in widths up to 30 and 32 inches but these can cost much less than custom made ones.
