TYPES OF INTERIOR DOORS

Swinging Interior Doors

A swinging interior door is a hinged door that swings into or out of a room. This is the most popular and most widely chosen interior door.

Pocket Doors

A pocket door is a sliding door that hangs from rollers suspended from an overhead track. As the door is opened it slides into and disappears into a compartment in the adjacent wall. Pocket doors are often used when there is no room for a swinging door.

Barn Doors

Barn doors are an increasingly popular interior door option that uses externally mounted hardware to  allow the door to slide over an opening. Interior barn doors are similar to pocket doors in the fact that they don’t take up space needed for a swinging door.

French Doors

A French door is an interior door option with one or more pieces of glass (“lites”) set into it. French doors are often used to divide formal living spaces that don’t need privacy as would a bedroom door.

Bifold Doors

A bifold door is a set of two doors that fold in half on hinges when opened. Bifold doors are most commonly used for closets, but may also be used between rooms.

Louver Doors

A louvered door has fixed or movable wooden slats (often called fins or louvers) that permit open ventilation and some light while still preserving privacy. Louvered doors are most commonly used for bedroom closets or laundry rooms, where ventilation is important.
